This illustrated children's book tells the story of how an imaginary tree growing on the slope of Citadel Hill during wartime Halifax tried to warn its cities citizens of an impending explosion in the harbor and later called for help to anyone who could hear. The little tree’s voice was blown to sea by the wind and heard by a Massachusetts fisherman, who spread the word of the Halifax Explosion through the city of Boston, whose citizens organized and sent help.
John Demont tells the story of how the Boston Tree became an annual tradition and the book is beautifully illustrated by his daughter Belle. A great bedtime book for the kids!!!
